What is a PSA-graded card?

PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) is the largest company for grading trading cards. They check that the card is authentic, give it a grade from 1 to 10 based on corners, edges, surface, and centering, and seal it in a plastic case, a so-called slab, with a unique certificate number.

PSA 10 and PSA 9

PSA 10 Gem Mint is the top grade and means a virtually flawless card. PSA 9 Mint is a card in excellent condition with at most one minor flaw. A graded card is protected from wear, and the condition is documented. You can look up the certificate number at PSA and see that the card is authentic.
